Canada Car Sales – Rio Remains The Best-Selling Vehicle In Kia Range
It was a good month of May for Kia Canada with 8,015 total vehicles sold.
That number represents the second best month ever for the company, as well as a 6% increase over 2013.
Totals sales to date for the year sit at 29,573, which represents a 2.5% increase over the numbers posted during the first 5 months of last year.
There were 4 award-winning vehicles that played a major role in the success that Kia Canada had in May.
Taking into account the gas and hybrid models, the Optima saw a 106.5% increase during the May.
The all-new Kia Soul has a modest little 3.3% sales increase, while the 2014 Sportage had a very nice 43.1% sales increase.
The Soul sales are expected to grow with the release of the special edition model in Canada.
The US-built Sorento also performed well, delivering a 23.4% sales increase.
4 Kia Models Surpass The 1,000 Units Mark
All told, 4 vehicle lines were able to surpass the 1,000 units mark for the month of May:
- Rio sub-compact hatchback and sedan
- the all-new Forte sedan, 5-door and Koup variants
- Optima mid-size sedan
- Sorento SUV
Robert Staffieri, Director of Marketing for Kia Canada Inc, said that awareness across the line-up was raised thanks to FIFA World Cup messaging and those ever popular Soul-driving hamsters.
He went on to say that the variety of vehicles in the line-up allowed Kia to reach all kinds of different drivers, including those looking for a little more luxury, which is exactly what the K900 sedan delivers.
That line-up will expand even further later in the year when the all-electric Soul EV arrives in dealerships.
