Kia Canada sets new sales record
Many major car makers tend to focus on the numbers that they post in the US, and that is oftentimes because of slack sales in the rest of the world. The same cannot be said for Kia who has done nothing but break sales records in just about every location where their vehicles are available.
It’s the perfect payoff for all the hard work that has been done over the past few years; laying the groundwork for a complete re-branding that meant better cars at lower prices. That has paid off in spades, and a quick look at the numbers in just a single location is enough to see how well that change has gone.
Earlier this month, Kia Canada released their 2011 sales figures, and they were better than most people could probably have ever imagined.
It perhaps shouldn’t have been that much of a surprise when you consider that sales figures in December of last year set record numbers for the 36th consecutive month.
Those sales became progressively better with each passing month in 2011, and by the end of the year Kia had tallied 65.123 car sales nationwide. That figure was an astonishing 20.9 percent increase over 2010, which in itself has proven to be a banner year for the Korean automaker.
Unlike many major car retailers, Kia didn’t simply rely on a flagship vehicle to carry the load, and actually had 3 different cars post sales of over 10,000 units. The leader of the pack was the Kia Sorento with a little over 15.000, another first for Kia Canada, followed by the all new Kia Soul, which sold over 11.000 units.
The Forte family of vehicles, featuring the Sedan, 5-door, and Koup combined for another 13.984 sales, with all the vehicles in the top 3 boasting impressive percentage increases over the previous year’s numbers.
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kia Canada Inc., Maria Soklis, praised the great year that the company experienced in 2011, focusing on the resilience and fresh approach that Kia brought to the table throughout the year. She was also quick to emphasis that the hard work would continue in 2012, expressing her excitement about the impending release of the all-new 2012 Rio subcompact later in the month.
She was undoubtedly also delighted with the awards that were heaped on the Kia line-up throughout 2011, with the Optima and Sportage leading the way in the Canadian auto awards circuit.
A major part of the success that Kia had achieved recently has been built on the drive that they have to constantly improve their vehicles, as well as the lengths they are willing to go to in order to make sure that their customers receive the best value and service in the world.
That approach will continue with the launch of “The Kia Advantage Sales Event” with 0% financing and “Do not pay until spring” options available on all of the 2012 models in Canada. [Source: Kia Canada]
I helped those Soul yearly figures by purchasing a 2012 Soul 4u auto in mid November. It’s equipped with the UVO sytem, Infinity sound, sunroof and 18″ machine alloys.
the Soul was the 20th best selling car in Canada for 2011, Forte 13th.
Kia Canada doesn’t sell vehicles directly. Sounds like a bait and switch to me, but you will never get anywhere by going after Kia Canada. You have to go after the dealer itself. Definitely report the dealer to Kia Canada, but it isn’t their fault, and don’t expect anything from them.
