Forte Compact Car Helps Kia Set Best-Ever February Sales

Kia Motors America today announced record sales for February 2016 totaling 49,737 vehicles, a 13 percent gain over February 2015!

The brand also reported year-to-date sales of 88,042 new vehicles, a 12 percent increase over the same period last year.

It was the funky Soul crossover that lead the automaker’s sales in February 2016, but the star of the Kia US-market line-up last month was the Forte compact car.

Slightly refreshed for the new model year, the Forte sales took off to no less than 8,187 units, making it the third best-selling Kia model in the USA.

Squeezed in-between the top-selling Soul and Forte compact car was the Optima sedan with sales of 9,630 units.

Taking fourth spot last month was the Sorento SUV with 8,101 units sold.

Both, the Optima and Sorento, have experienced a slight drop in sales compared to the same month a year ago.

Also performing exceptionally well in February 2016 were the Sportage crossover vehicle and Sedona minivan which recorded the sales of 5,860 and 3,988 units, respectively.

The Rio subcompact car and Cadenza near-premium sedan haven’t been able to improve their last year’s sales figures, while Kia K900 only managed to move 20 more units than in the same month a year earlier.

Kia has yet to reveal how many Soul EVs have been sold in February, so stay tuned as we will keep this news post updated.
