Kia March sales up 23% to all-time best result for the month
Record-high March 2010 Kia sales boosted by new Kia Soul, Sorento and Forte / Forte Koup models.
Kia Motors America announced the brand’s all-time best March sales of 30.522 units sold, a 23 percent increase over the same period last year and 10 percent increase over the previous March sales record set in 2007.
The all-new Kia Sorento continues to post impressive sales numbers. For the third consecutive month the all-new Sorento was Kia’s best-selling vehicle. Last month, Kia delivered 9.158 units of Sorento crossover to the U.S. customers.
With 5.106 and 4.830 units sold, respectively, the funky Kia Soul crossover and Forte compact sedan were both another star performers in the Kia range.
“Kia Motors is achieving record sales in the middle of the most aggressive new product launch cycle in company history that is delivering vehicles like the all-new Sorento that combine world-class design with the latest technology and convenience features,” said B.M. Ahn, group president and CEO of Kia Motors America and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG).
“Groundbreaking products like the Soul, Forte and new Sorento have rapidly changed Kia’s DNA and elevated the brand’s profile, and are the driving force behind our sales records. We expect this trend to continue as new models come on line later this year.” added B.M. Ahn.

(As the regular forum’s are not working anymore, therefore I can’t post this info in its normal thread)
KIA Canada also having another record month up 24.8% for March, YTD up 29.6% – that’s 15 months of consecutive growth.
Also the first time the Forte passed the 1,000 unit mark with 1,138, Soul 816 units and the new Sorento with its first full month of sales in Canada – 751 units.
Kia-World blog has been moved to new server, so we are still having some problems with the site. Hopefully, we will work on all things by the middle of next-week.
I’m going to say Optima. That segment has always been where the most sales are in the US. And the Optima has now in most ways leapfrogged the competition. I’d say one of the things I always heard about the Spectra was how nice its interior was and how well it rides, especially considering the price. Neither can be considered the Forte’s forte. So unless those issues are addressed, I don’t think it’ll get back to where the Spectra was sales-wise.
If they get the Optima Hybrid out asap they could get a huge share of the buyers market.
Kia needs to make some hype before they bring Optima to the market. Mybe show it at some US and Canadian Motor Shows and perhaps making a unique video commercial and then bring it to the stores. We don’t want people not knowing about the car when writing a shoppiung list, do we?
Well they have put both the Optima and Sportage as a future vehicle on their US website. Oddly, the Canadian site doesn’t mention it; just the Cadenza as a concept car. The US site shows the VG, but also under concept cars under the KND-5 name.
if you go to kiamedia.com you can view and download lots of good photos on the Optima and Sportage
