Kia Pro_cee’d GT Release Date Announced

Kia announces 1,6L turbo engine details and confirms release date  of  the 2013 cee’d / pro_cee’d GT!

It’s no secret that the South Korean fastest growing carmaker wants to enter the hot-hatch market.

Initially, it was widely speculated that Kia would release a pro_cee’d based hot hatch only, however, the carmaker confirmed recently it also plans to launch a more “family-oriented” 5-door cee’d GT model!

Kia’s highly-anticipated GT hatchbacks are expected to make their official public premieres at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show in March.

Serial mass production of the new GT family will, reportedly, begin in May 2013, while sales are expected to commence only a few months later.

Kia confirmed first GT models should start hitting the European showrooms during the summer.

Additional details related to the GT model family reveal the sporty Kias will feature a highly-potent 1,6L Turbo engine, as well as special suspension tuning.

Mated to the 6-speed manual transmission, the unit will develop 204 horsepower and will take the car from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 8 seconds.

Styling-wise, the cee’d GT will incorporate a more aggressive exterior looks with updated signature grille and restyled front and rear bumpers. Additionally, the GT’s will also feature 18-inch alloy-wheels, red brake calipers, LED 4-point running daylights and specific paint finishings.
