Kia sales figures: August 2012
People must be starting to wonder if Kia Motor America’s -KMA incredible period of sales growth is ever going to come to an end. Time will only tell, but it’s already very clear that it won’t happen this summer.
KMA took their run of consecutive monthly sales records to 24 with another fantastic showing in August. Kia announced that 50,028 vehicles were sold during the month of August, which translated to a 21.5% increase over last year’s. With just 4 months remaining in 2012, Kia is already well ahead of the record setting pace they set in 2011.
While every vehicle in the Kia lineup played a part in the August sales success, it’s fair to say that the Kia Optima midsize sedan and the Sorento CUV were very much the leaders. Both vehicles topped the 10,000 units sold mark for the fourth consecutive month. The Optima celebrated a landmark of its own by becoming only the third Kia vehicle in history to top 100,000 annual sales.
The Soul urban passenger vehicle continued to deliver solid numbers too and the buzz is already loud concerning the latest ad for the vehicle. The hip-hop hamsters are back in a 2013 Kia Soul commercial ad titled “Bringing Down the House” which is now showing in movie theaters and made it’s TV debut during the MTV Video Music Awards.
Byung Mo Ahn, group president and CEO of KMA and KMMG spoke about how quickly Kia has been able to transform their brand into one that is widely recognized as being a leader in automotive design and fun to drive cars. He went on to say that the company was extremely proud of the 2-year sales record run, and that it was a testament to how much effort they put in to delivering quality vehicles for an affordable price.
He also said how excited he was by the new vehicles and technologies that are set for release in 2013, which he believes will help solidify the Kia brand and allow it to continue its unprecedented run of sales success.

August 2012 Kia sales by model:
that’s nothing Kia Canada now has 44 consecutive months of sales growth. Their August sales were up 32.4% over August 2011, the YTD is up 20.7%. The Rio was the top selling at 1,733 units, followed by the Sorento at 1,588 and the Forte at 1,303 units. They sold 7,682 units in August which is the best August in its 13 year history.
Congrats to Kia Canada as well!! How about Kia Soul sales?
