Kia sales figures for July 2011

Kia announces record July sales as popular 7-seat Sorento crossover posts its best-ever monthly sales!

There have been a number of outside forces that seem to be teaming up in an attempt to stall the new car market in the US these past few months.

Whilst a flagging economy and high fuel prices have hurt here at home, the biggest factor that hurt July sales was the problems still being experienced by Japanese car giants Honda and Toyota, still reeling after theearthquake and tsunami disaster. It was the lack of availability of their vehicles that dropped increase in sales from the previous year to a modest 1 percent.

Whilst most of the big name automakers experienced some level of growth, they all paled in comparison to the South Korean carmaker Kia, which sold in excess of 45.000 cars during the month of July, a 29 percent increase over the previous year, and their second best month ever.

Those are numbers fit for a king, and the jewel in the crown would have to be the Sorento which posted an astonishing 13.262 units sold for the month, a personal best for the vehicle This is a vehicle that has been a consistent performer for the brand, and these sorts of results just go to prove that there seems no end in sight to that upward trend.

Another great performer for Kia is the Soul crossover which saw an almost 25 percent increase from the previous month, as well as a staggering 65 percent sales increase from the previous July. The 2012 Kia Optima and Forte also posted strong numbers, and the general feeling is that Kia will take another huge step forward with the release of its latest version of the Rio hitting the showrooms later this year. The 2012 Kia Rio should help pad the heady stats that are already being put up.

The folks at Kia are pinning their successes on the shift they have made towards the design changes and overall styling of their product line. This outer beauty make-over will be combined with the addition of a hands-free communication and entertainment system, the Microsoft powered UVO, which we can only imagine, will propel sales numbers even higher that July’s.

Certainly, Kia can expect a bigger challenge from Honda and Toyota in the coming months, as they continue to increase production, and work towards recovering from the tsunami damage. The problem for both of them, as well as all the other automakers who trail behind, is that by the time they all adjust, the only view they will have of Kia will be their taillights in the distance. 1. Kia Canada also set another record with their best July ever, a 12.9% increase over July 2010. They have sold more units this year than they did in 2008 and still have five months to go!
Best seller was the Forte followed by the Sorento (which had a record month).

  2. The 2012 Kia Rio has landed at ports! View photos: thecarblogger’dot’net/2011/08/first-street-shots-of-us-spec-2012-kia’dot’html

  3. Go check out this link that Greg gave. I had already seen them before Greg’s post above but you all should take a look if you haven’t yet. Very impressive stable of 2012 Kia Rio hatches in there. This car should make a big splash for Kia. I am going to be watching it from north Idaho like a hawk in the upcoming months ahead.

  4. Looking closely at the close up photo`s of the front head lamp assemblies, it is very clear the differences between the the LX/EX and the SX Models. Not only does the SX get the different “projector” lamps but the sharp LED Daytime Running LIghts that the other models don`t get besides the rear LED Tail Lamps. Too bad, if the price jump is significant, I`ll have to forfeit the LED Lamps and settle for the EX Rio5 with the optional upgrade packages and the smaller 15“ Alloy Wheels/Tires, as well. IMO, I like the looks of the EX Alloy Wheels over the SX Alloy Wheels which look similar to the new Kia Sportage SX Alloy Wheels which look like they belong on a Pimp Mobile or “”Gangsta” Car. Not much appeal unless your under 30 or already have a “Gold Grill” in your mouth.

  5. I wouldn’t compare a Jeep Grand Cherokee to a Kia Sorento just for sales sake. Remember, Dodge introduced the Durango (7 passenger version of the Jeep) which if I was in the market, it would be a tough choice deciding which one.

  6. Himi states that Kia cars design changes and styling is the resaon of the sales increased in the last years. I sicerely believed that kia high quality product, excellent warranty and top reliability in addition to excellent marketting and leadership at high level of company management and in including car dealers service and sales ability were of of paramount importance in the continuous success of the company. Todays result is the result of the last 10 years relentless efforts towards improvement which has resulted in success and a remarquable improvement in the value and reconnaissance of the Kia’s brand by the general public and shares holders as well as being a company with a very strong marketting, design, competivness ability.

In conclusion, the todays success is the result of 10 years of continuous efforts and improvement.

  7. Jean Ubota-to add to what you’re saying, I saw enough in my 1999 Kia Sephia’s build to get excited about this brand of cars. The small sedan was well-made and, it helped to have a great dealer who went out of their way to make sure I was happy with my new purchase. Once I put on some Konig Diva wheels shod with Yokohama 70,000 mile all-season radials the car handled and drove even better. From there it was the 2001 Kia Sportage 4 X 4 we traded the Sephia in on, and that small SUV got me out of ice and snow stickages at least 3 times in Missouri and Idaho, it was a real trooper. It was only the awesome new 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS and it’s greatness that caused me to stray from driving a Kia motorcar. And with the new teaser shots of the K9, or large RWD V8 sedan from Kia, I may once again return to the Kia family of vehicles. They continue to improve year over year and now with auto designer Peter Schreyer on at Kia as their Chief Designer, the potential for new and interesting vehicles from Kia only gets greater and greater as time moves along.
