Kia Reports Stellar Sales Performance For The Month Of May 2015
We are thrilled to announce latest sales figures Kia Motors America achieved in the month of May 2015.
The company set a new record with May sales soaring 4 percent from a year ago for a total of 62,433 units (compared to 60,087 vehicles sold in May, 2014)!
The company also reported year-to-date sales of 256,815 vehicles, a 4,1 percent gain over the same period in 2014.
Best-sellers in May: Optima, Soul, Sorento
The historic May was led by strong performances from the Optima midsize sedan, Sorento CUV and Soul crossover vehicle.
Taking first spot among Kias sold in the United States was the Optima with sales of more than 16,000 units.
Following in second and third were the Soul and Sorento crossovers with sales of 13,886 and 10,743 units, respectively.
Forte sales surpass 8,000 units
Also performing surprisingly well last month was the Forte compact car, which has managed to improve its sales figures from a year ago by a large margin.
According to Kia’s official sales figures, the Forte sales hit an all time high 8,584 units (compared to 7,196 units in May 2014).
Sedona minivan sales skyrocket
It was the Sedona minivan that recorded the largest monthly gain with sales soaring more than 5 fold from a year ago!
In total, 4,110 new Sedonas have been sold in the USA last month.

The Sante Fe didn’t make the list this month. I can’t believe the Sante Fe lost to the Jeep Journey and GMC Terrain last month.

I’m a bit surprised to see the Santa Fe with less than 8,000 units sold last month. This has to do something with the poor safety rating it received recently…
I find it strange how the Murano is a very popular CUV and hasn’t been on top 20. I wonder why. It is a very stylish CUV and received good reviews. It must be way more expensive.
