Kia sales October 2011
Kia reports best October sales, while its overall U.S. sales to date surpass 400.000 units!
Kia Motors America today reported record October U.S. sales of 37.690 vehicles, topping the 31.199 vehicles sold in October 2010. With the record October 2011 results, the Kia brand surpassed 400.000 annual U.S. sales for the very-first time in its history!
Kia’s October 2011 result represents a 21 percent increase in sales compared to a year ago, while the carmaker’s year-to-date sales represent a 35 gain from a year earlier.
The favorable Kia sales performance in October 2011 was bolstered by consumer response to the all-new 2012 Kia Sorento and the 2012 Kia Optima mid-size sedan. Sales of the new Sorento hit 10.176 units last month, while Optima sales rose from 1.630 units in October 2010 to 8.616 units sold in October 2011.
Demand for the stylish Kia Soul crossover, which received a mid-cycle facelift for the 2012 model year, remained strong with 7.109 vehicles sold for the month.
October 2011 marked another good month for the Forte, which recorded sales of 4.712 units. The number is slightly lower than a year ago, however, the Forte family increased its year-to-date sales from 57.482 units in 2010 to 67.429 units in 2011.
Kia sales by model – October 2011:
This is a perfect example of supply and demand. Soul is seriously hard to get right now, Rios are really just starting to get to dealers, Sorentos are readily available, and Optimas are becoming less scarce. Sportages are still in really low supply. The Forte just sucks compared to the rest of the segment. There is limited market for the Sedona. Sales could be better if inventory was better. However, I really don’t think sales should grown anymore until Kia can resolve some of their quality issues. The left-pull and seat comfort issues with the Optima, the transmission problems with the Sorento and Optima, steering issues with their EPS on most models and a few others that are uncalled for should have never happened.
Whatever dude. Just saying, it is outdated, no longer competitive, and 4,712 sales across 3 different body-styles proves that. Time to move on. The 2013 can’t get here fast enough. It is an obvious weak spot in the line-up. Same with the Sedona.
Oooppss…I mean even though I no longer have my 1999 Kia Sephia. How in hell did I get “never have” from “no longer have.” Who would’ve known I’d of made that silly mistake?
Never meant to criticize your ride. In 2009 when it came out it was easily passable. Now it is not. The Sedona has way overstayed its welcome, so true. Considering the percentage of sales, the Sedona makes up a higher percentage of Kia’s sales than the sales of minivans from Toyota, Honda, or Nissan. The Forte should be the best-selling car in the line-up, if it was done correctly. Who in the F would want an overweight over-proportioned crossover? Kia doesn’t even make one! The GM Lambdas are jokes, not nearly as versatile as a minivan, and not nearly the cargo room or visibility. I found out why people accelerate so slowly in minivans, too. When I accelerate slowly I can get good gas mileage. In fact, I can easily get 28 MPG if I don’t go over 55. I also laugh at the idiots who go racing by at 65 in their little Fortes or Civics, probably getting worse gas mileage than I am. Slow and steady wins the race. I also laugh at the jerks who go rocketing away from a stop-light. If I drive my Optima like those uneducated hellions, I only get 26 MPG or worse. Go figure. Oh, and the Sedona is quicker to 60 and does a quarter mile faster than a Forte 2.4L – so your acceleration comment is baseless. What is up with you lately, and what is with the personal attacks and stuff? Knock it off, it’s getting really old. We all think Kia is great, in fact I personally think they are the best car company in the world, but not all of their products are pure gold. The Sedona and Forte are good cars, but compared to the rest of the market, and even the rest of the Kia line-up, they are outdated and highly un-competitive. Back in ’06, the Sedona was the head of its class and even won a couple of comparison tests. The Forte has never won a comparison test, because it hasn’t had what it takes to be competitive in its segment since it came out. The Sedona hasn’t been competitive since late 2007. Kia plans to replace both of them. Hopefully Kia is taking notes of the Elantra’s shortcomings and fixing them in the Forte. The minivan market is coming back big-time as people are abandoning the “large crossover” market as fast as it grew, so I have a feeling the 29 MPG turbo-4 in the new Sedona will shake up the minivan market when it lands at the end of next summer. Until then, you really need to chill out and be rational, this is a public space.
yes, forte out of date , must be replaced with new design that must be based on optima’s desing style
That’s exactly what I’m talking about, Kia knew it needed to re-do the whole vehicle – it didn’t even get a facelift! I would imagine the 2013 Forte will be on sale sometime next year. The problem with the Forte from the get-go was that the budget for R&D on it was way too tight – as it was developed amidst the worst of the recession in 2008. Maybe they will add GDI to the 1.8L Nu engine for the Forte? That along with ISG, and it should really put up good performance and MPG numbers. I just hope the suspension and steering are tuned better than the Elantra.
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 1, 2011 /CNW/ – Kia Canada Inc. recorded its best ever month in October with 5,180 new vehicles sold, translating into 15.4 per cent growth compared to October 2010. Kia Canada continues to perform well in the market for 2011 with a percentage increase of 21.4 per cent year-to-date, and 56,850 units sold. All four national regions achieved their best October in total volume. These sales results have also contributed to an industry-leading sales streak of 34 consecutive months of growth.
The Georgia built 2011 Kia Sorento Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) was the volume leader in October nationally charting a 4.1 per cent increase in comparison to October 2010. The award-winning Kia Sportage CUV sustained a 78.8 per cent increase. The Kia Soul, Urban Utility Vehicle reported a 26.6 per cent increase versus the previous year while the Rondo Urban Utility Vehicle did well with a growth of 37.2 per cent from the same period. Additionally, the Optima Hybrid registered its best sales month since its launch in July
Look at the field the Chrysler is playing in, there aren’t very many waves in the pool. It is still winning comparison tests, even against the much newer Genesis. The Forte is in the most competitive market segment there is, and Kia did not put forth all of their resources when they were developing it. If they had, they wouldn’t be completely replacing it this soon. Yes, the Hyundai versions of the vehicles I mentioned have the same issues. Go to a Hyundai forum and search “left pull”, “transmission problem”, “Steering issues” – you will be reading for days. At least Kia listened and changed the seats in the Optima for 2012. Hyundai always debuts the new models on new platforms first. The Sonata came first, the Elantra came first, the Accent came first. I do apologize if I stepped on any toes – I was just expressing how I feel while about the vehicles coming from my favorite manufacturer, and I’m willing to point out the bad when I think there is something pulling down the company. I’m not going to sit here and say that Kia is all flowers, ponies, rainbows and fairies. They have issues they need to work out, and when they do, they will be at the top. In the mean time, they really really need to hurry up on replacing that Sedona. Have you seen the interior of the 2012s? It is a step BACKWARD in the chintzy department when compared to an 06-08 model.
For being the top-selling, I see a lot more Sorentos than I do CR-Vs. Maybe I just don’t notice them because of their blandness?
Just thought about it, the 2012 Kia Rio5 I purchased around 9:00 PM, Oct 31, Halloween eve, just might be unit # 2005 sold! Then again, it was bought in Florida , EST so perhaps another was sold the same evening further West? Just saying……
