Top-Selling Kia Models In Europe During The Q1

Kia has once again delivered a strong performance in Europe, outing up sales numbers that broke all-time records for both the month of March and the first quarter.

Pulling sales from 30 different countries, Kia was able to move 40,479 units in March, a 10.1% increase over the previous year.

Furthermore, the 89,450 units sold during the first quarter of 2014 represent a 7.4% year on year increase.

Best Sellers

At the top of the sales heap for Kia in Europe was the Sportage with 24,144 units sold.

The Cee’d family delivered solid numbers, sitting just ahead of the Rio which sold 15,383 units.

Other strong performers were the Picanto city car, Venga MPV (Europe-exclusive model), and Carens MPV (sold as Rondo in Canada).

Here’s the list of Kia’s best sellers:

1. Sportage SUV with 24,144 units sold
2. cee’d (including pro_cee’d and cee’d SW) with 18,876 units
3. Rio with 15,383 units sold
4. Picanto with 14,006 units sold
5. Venga with 6,681 units sold
6. Carens MPV with 5,907 units sold

Top European Markets

The European markets that made it into the top 5 in sales were the UK (21,631 units and a 12.6% increase), Germany (11,602 units), Italy (8,306 units and a 15% increase), France (7,591 units), and Spain (5,707 units and a 52.6% increase).

Furthermore, roughly 55% (49,701) of the cars sold in Europe during this period were also made there.

Market Share On The Rise

Michael Cole, COO, Kia Motors Europe, said that the figures are a sign that Kia is not only maintaining its growth in Europe, but also moving ahead at an increased pace as more and more consumers see the benefits of the Kia brand.

He went on to say that Kia has seen sales volume growth increase in Europe every year since 2008, with the market share going from 1.7% to 2.7% during that time.

What makes the numbers even more impressive is that the increases have come during a down period for the industry throughout the region.

A big part of the reason for the success, he feels, is the customer service and outstanding automobile warranty that Kia delivers.
